Mixed Martial Arts Orangeville
Striking + Grappling + Anti-Grappling — A Complete System
Be equipped for it all. Control the exchange. Dictate the outcome.
01
MMX (Mixed Martial Arts Cross Training) is Art Of 8’s integrated MMA training program that combines our Muay Thai striking system with our hybrid no-gi grappling system (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Sambo, and Wrestling). If you are looking for mixed martial arts Orangeville programs, MMX is built for people who want a complete skill set—whether your goal is MMA readiness, competition crossover, or simply becoming harder to handle in any physical exchange. This is not “a bit of everything.” MMX is a structured system where each piece supports the other, with a clear focus on what matters most in real MMA: transitions.
What Makes MMX Different: Anti-Grappling
02
Most programs teach striking and grappling as separate worlds. MMX bridges them with anti-grappling—the skills that stop grappling from shutting down your striking, and stop striking from being your only option.
Anti-grappling is the connector:
• How to stay on your feet when someone wants to take you down
• How to break clinches, win hand-fighting, and reset to striking
• How to defend takedowns without losing balance or giving up dominant grips
• How to stand back up safely if you do hit the ground
• How to turn “defense” into counter opportunities (sprawl to control, whizzer to angle, frame to escape)
In MMA, being able to punch is not enough—and being able to grapple is not enough. The difference is knowing how to prevent, manage, and reverse the transition.
What You’ll Train in MMX
Muay Thai Striking System
A technical, pressure-tested approach to stand-up that develops real skill and real conditioning:
- Footwork, stance, balance, and range control
- Boxing + Muay Thai fundamentals (punches, kicks, knees, elbows—level appropriate)
- Clinch basics and striking entries
- Pad work and partner drills with coached progression
Hybrid Grappling System (BJJ + Sambo + Wrestling)
A comprehensive no-gi approach designed for control, escapes, and finishes:
- Takedown chains and takedown defense
- Top control, passing, and positional dominance
- Guard fundamentals, sweeps, and stand-ups
- High-percentage submissions and finishing sequences
Anti-Grappling Integration (The Connector)
This is where MMX becomes a true MMA system:
- Striking while managing distance and level changes
- Clinch control, underhooks, head position, and pummeling
- Sprawl-and-brawl concepts: defend, frame, angle, reset, counter
- Wall/cage-style fundamentals (where applicable): pressure, peel-offs, and escapes
- Ground survival and stand-up pathways: get safe, get structure, get up
MMX is ideal if you want:
• A complete MMA skill set, even if you’re starting from zero
• Striking AND grappling that actually connect through transitions
• A system that builds confidence under pressure
• A team environment that pushes you while keeping the room respectful
Whether you’re a striker who wants to become hard to take down, a grappler who wants to become dangerous on the feet, or a complete beginner who wants the full system—MMX is the program that ties it together.
