Grappling No-Gi Jiu Jitsu Orangeville for beginners

Take down. Control. Submit.

CONTROL THE GROUND

Control the position. Control the pace. Control the outcome.

Art Of 8 Martial Arts Academy’s No-Gi Grappling program is a structured, skill-first training system designed to make you dangerous in every phase of grappling—standing, scrambling, controlling, and finishing. We blend the most effective elements of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Sambo, and Wrestling into a curriculum that is practical, progressive, and built for real performance.

Whether your goal is to compete, improve MMA effectiveness, or gain elite-level fitness and confidence, No-Gi Grappling gives you a clear pathway to growth—without confusion, without fluff.

What Makes This Program Different

A Comprehensive System Built on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Sambo, and Wrestling

No-gi can feel chaotic when it’s taught without structure. Our approach is the opposite: a comprehensive system that prioritizes fundamentals, repeatable solutions, and skill development you can apply immediately.

You will learn how to:

  • Win and maintain dominant positions
  • Escape bad positions under pressure
  • Chain takedowns into control and submissions
  • Transition smoothly through scrambles
  • Grapple effectively without relying on the gi

This is grappling that translates—on the mats, in competition, and in MMA.

The Art Of 8 No-Gi System

Built on Three Proven Styles

  1. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ):
Leverage, positional control, submissions, guard work, and efficient escapes.
  2. Wrestling:
Takedowns, clinch control, mat returns, top pressure, and relentless pace management.
  3. Sambo:
Dynamic entries, unconventional angles, leg attacks, and fast transitions that punish hesitation.

Together, these disciplines create a well-rounded grappler who can adapt to any opponent and any rule set.

What You’ll Train

Our No-Gi Grappling program is built as a connected system—so you’re not collecting random techniques. You’ll learn how to move through each phase with purpose: standing → takedown → control → advancement → finish, with clear escapes and resets when you’re on defense.

Standing, Clinch, and Takedowns (Wrestling + Sambo)

You’ll build confidence on your feet and learn to bring the fight to the ground safely and effectively:

  • Stance, movement, and hand-fighting (wrist control, collar ties, pummeling)
  • High-percentage takedowns (singles, doubles, body locks, trips)
  • Takedown defense and recoveries (sprawls, hip pressure, returning to position)

Top Control and Guard Passing (Wrestling + BJJ)

Once you’re on top, you’ll learn how to stay on top—without relying on gi grips:

  • Pinning, pressure, and riding concepts that limit escapes
  • Guard passing fundamentals (clearing legs, maintaining connection, preventing scrambles)
  • Advancing to dominant positions with control and patience

Escapes and Defensive Fundamentals

A clear, repeatable approach for when you’re in a bad spot:

  • Escapes from common pins (side control, mount, back control)
  • Re-guarding and recovering position under pressure
  • Defensive awareness to prevent the “snowball” into submissions

Guard, Sweeps, and Get-Ups (BJJ Core)

From bottom position, you’ll learn how to stay safe, recover, and create offense:

  • Frames, hip movement, and guard retention basics
  • Sweeps that work in no-gi (off-balancing, timing, angle creation)
  • Wrestling-informed stand-ups when returning to your feet is the best option

Submissions and Finishing Sequences (BJJ + Sambo Influence)

We focus on reliable finishes and the control that makes them work:

  • High-percentage submissions for no-gi (chokes and joint locks)
  • Safe, structured leg-attack concepts introduced progressively (experience-dependent)
  • Simple chains so you always know what to do when your opponent defends
